+ There's a style to the music.
+ There's a fashion to the words.

+ There's a seduction in the sound of Jay West, but what makes it provocative is all within the details.

+ The Jay West Perspective is romantic. The Jay West Aesthetic is tailored. The Jay West agenda is to INSPIRE. “Southern California’s Newest Buzzworthy Artist” is preparing a follow-up to the cult classic mixtape, “Drugs+Candy”. The table is set.

+ Say Grace.

The Rock is in the building

“Music kind of sucks. Nobody’s into being a musician. Everybody’s getting their mogul on. You’ve been so infiltrated by this corporate mentality that all the time you’d spend getting great songs together, you’re busy doing nine other things that have nothing to do with art. You know how shitty Stevie Wonder’s songs would have been if he had to run a fuckin’ clothing company and a cologne line?… Rap sucks, for the most part. Not all rap, but as an art form it’s just not at its best moment. Sammy the Bull would have made a shitty album. And I don’t really have a desire to hear Warren Buffett’s album - or the new CD by Paul Allen. That’s what everybody’s aspiring to be.”

-quoted from Chris Rock in Rolling Stone Magazine

agreed.
my environment inspires me.
i guess i'm dying in an environment that seems so uninspiring.
rap is dry. i a lot of cases
so to whet the appetite and quench my thirst for some hotter music i've been seeking out other artists. sounds that just aren't the norm in today's rap music. i've come across Kenna. His most recent LP "make sure they see my face" is a colorful ride through dim times. the music could not have come at a better time for me. I've also been listening to a little A Race of Angels. Its hard to say what kind of music this is. Its surrounded in so much but so little. thank god for the artistry of these guys as well as Feist, Mathieu Boogaerts and Miguel for keeping in the pocketing. i feel underwater but this lets me breathe.

thanks
