+ There's a style to the music.
+ There's a fashion to the words.

+ There's a seduction in the sound of Jay West, but what makes it provocative is all within the details.

+ The Jay West Perspective is romantic. The Jay West Aesthetic is tailored. The Jay West agenda is to INSPIRE. “Southern California’s Newest Buzzworthy Artist” is preparing a follow-up to the cult classic mixtape, “Drugs+Candy”. The table is set.

Ruby Anemic

These were two shots that blew my mind from Ruby Anemic's show titled, “Choking Under Pressure”, that took place back in October of 08. To be honest, I'm a little late on throwing these up but here they are. The first is called "Nice Trash", the second, "Cocaine Girl"... I just took a look at his current show at Pool Gallery in Berlin and you should take a peak too but not at the office. You may want to wait. The show is called, "So Fucking Lustless". Nuff said.

Okay,

I had to make it work some way.
GO listen Power 106's DJ sourMILK. I grew up with this cat and remember when he started spinning...now he's killing these new mixtapes. Get familiar soon because the Los Angeles Leakers are bubbling and about to pop. That sounds kind of disgusting now that I think of it. Nonetheless, S.O.M.F.T. is DJ sourMILK's mix series and it stands for "Some Of My Favorite Things". Check it out. Its free music. Good music. And soon enough, you'll hear some Jay West music. I know ya' luh dat!

check it out. WhiteMenCanBlog>>>

Obama in Action

In these historic days, everyone is grabbing hold of a piece of history. What will I put in my time capsule? My girl has tons of newspapers, my pops told me i should go out and grab magazines. All the magazines I can find. Life is marvelous times! I need something to pass across the generations. I wished for a time like this when I was a boy. Well, Jailbreak Toys and Brooklyn music and design store, Halcyon the Shop, asked tons of artists to customize their own toys of our new prezzy. If I can get my hands on these, I would definitely share that with the kids when they arrive.

Here are just a few of my favorites but there are about a hundred of these joints.

Drunken Negro Face Cookies

I kid a lot but this is not something that I'm humored by.
This is appalling and utterly insulting. Ted Kefalinos is the owner of Lafayette French Pastry in Greenwich Village selling these Drunken Negro Heads. He apparently thinks its a "fun face". He was calling them Obama Heads on Inauguration Day in "honor" of our nation's new president. Oh, I fail to believe the idea was so innocent and naivete especially when visitors of the bakery were asked to try the "drunken n-word cookies"...Not NEGRO.

He asked a patron, "Would you like some drunken negro heads to go with your coffee? They're in honor of our new president. He's following in the same path of Abraham Lincoln; he will get his."

Its just in the planning stage but if it happens it will include a cave, bar, movie theater, salon, studio and a pool.

Remember ICEBERG

Long ago...
in the land called the 90's ICEBERG sweaters donned Disney Characters and it was all the rage. Come Spring 2009 the brand has reached somewhat a coming-of-age plateau and under creative direction of Paolo Gerani they've come out of a fairytale forest to the concrete jungle of more wearable looks. No worries, there's something in store for you in the fall, Goof Troop. I promise.

Jessica Tonder: and so it begins...

Last summer, she sat in our living room and I played my music for her. She grinned and after the songs stopped she said, “Its dope”. That meant a lot then. It means more now.

See, we come in contact with lots of artists in passing. Some shine locally, some bubble globally but this kid is cracking. We attended the first show in a 13 city tour she is about to embark on and I’m glad we were there to give her the send off she needs. Jessica Tonder stood on stage centered behind a keyboard and in between DJ, Rob Wonder and Producer, Drop Braxton and began to peel away the layers. We just watched her coming alive and the experience was incredible for me. I sunk into the show and just imagined the stage grow 5 more feet and I could see a pond full of hands waving and people singing with her but never interrupted what the little girl planned to give us.

I suppose I should try to reserve my predictions for coffee table talk between me and the gang but I’ll be direly frank when I say that I have little faith in the careers of some of the artists sprinkled around the blogs. This young lady is the truth already and its so much greater because she is so young. You’ll know when you listen. Its indisputable People like to say, “you have potential” to artists when they’re young but that does not apply here. She is great NOW. Its only going to get better. The Robot and The Little Girl is her rookie card. Get your hands on that.

Jeezy the Patriot

Jeezy on the campaign trail:
We found a new energy in Young Jeezy with the release of his 3rd Studio LP, The Recession. After history was made on Nov. 4th 2008, the downloads for his record "My President" shot up. Cell phones ringing, black people singing!

Jeezy takes great pride in having a hand in the birth of a new patriotic nature amongst young Americans. Here are some shots from a new campaign he's doing with Belvedere called "America Reborn" and Terry Richardson handled the photography...Visit the site for some video and this is just the prelude for what's to come. The video for "Circulate" is coming soon.

This beast was created by Loren Kulesus
and the story is that it was created to last for
100 years without maintenance. According to the creator,
“The vehicle would require the tires to be adjusted every
five years, but no material would need to be added or subtracted.”

Wings + Horns S/S 09 Preview

Our from friends north of the border, Wings + Horns present their spring/summer 2009 preview. I was not aware of their freshness with the shoes and sneakers so that was a pleasant surprise but T. and Will over at PRESTIGIOUS made me privy to the brand. They mentioned that Wings + Horns has been supplying the high quality sweatshirts to some of your favorite streetwear companies (SUPREME for example) for a long while. Details and quality have always been key to them. If you're unfamiliar, they have a hefty feel to their hoodies and sweatshirts. To be more precise, they are terry hoodies so they are thick but not hard or rough. Excellent feel. I'd anticipate nothing but the same for the shirts and blazers. The sneakers though...that's got me on one. Kinda Stan Smithy there, huh?
